autoSense, a joint venture of Swisscom, AMAG, and Zürich Insurance, provides a digital assistant for cars that networks road users with their vehicles to enable safer, more efficient mobility. Their platform offers everything from driving behavior analysis and CO2 compensation to digital garage services. To support this expansive portfolio, autoSense migrated to the AWS public cloud four years ago. However, after the initial migration, the team faced operational challenges and performance inconsistencies that required expert intervention.
Partnering with copebit, autoSense underwent a deep analysis of their existing setup. The primary focus was increasing stability and security without sacrificing development speed. copebit implemented a Well-Architected multi-account strategy using AWS Control Tower, segmenting workloads to ensure that productive environments remained undisturbed by new developments. A "killer feature" of the project was the introduction of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) via CloudFormation. With over 50 microservices currently in operation, autoSense now uses standardized templates to set up all services consistently, providing a massive boost to agility and productivity.
Security was elevated to the "state of the art" level, with encryption at rest and in transit across all layers. To further streamline the go-to-market process, copebit implemented fully automated CI/CD pipelines using a combination of GitHub Actions and AWS CodePipeline. This allows developers to push code directly into production with full auditing and monitoring, eliminating manual installation. Today, autoSense benefits from a highly scalable, user-friendly infrastructure that evolves as fast as their innovative IoT services.
