Architecting for Trust: Resilience & Sovereignty on AWS
#3 Containers and AWS Meetup 2026
Join us for an evening focused on building trusted cloud architectures, featuring a hands-on resilience workshop, expert talks from AWS and copebit, and time to connect with the community. We'll explore how organisations can design cloud systems that are resilient, reliable, and sovereign: from implementing resilience patterns on AWS, to running Claude Code in the enterprise, to understanding the difference between resilience and sovereignty in modern cloud architectures. You can join just the workshop, just the talks, or even better, both.

Talks
Design Resilient Workloads on AWS (Michael Schmid)
To deal with unexpected events, you have to design your workloads to be resilient. To address this, AWS has developed the Resilience Lifecylce Framework. In this session we will review Resilient Software Design Patterns for building resilient applications, such as graceful degradation, static stability, exponential backoff, and circuit breakers.
Enterprise Claude Code, Built Natively on AWS (Roman Frei)
Engineers want to use AI coding tools like Claude Code, but enterprises often can't approve them: data residency, auditability, and governance requirements get in the way. We solved that by building a private backend that guarantees inference stays inside the EU, with full audit trails and governance built in, and without losing connectivity to the tools and services engineers already depend on. This talk shows how we did it entirely with native AWS services, and what it took to get compliance to say yes.
Digital Sovereignty - Facts beyond the hype (Daniel Caduff)
Digital sovereignty is often debated in abstract terms. This talk breaks it into concrete requirements: data residency and locality, data protection and privacy, control over operator and lawful access, operational resilience, and freedom of choice. It shows how AWS covers each one with technical, operational and contractual measures.
